          Mahidol University has opening for the position of Instructor 1 position to work at in the Master of Arts in Language and Intercultural Communication Program Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia
Qualifications

1. Applicant’s age is not over 45 by the application closure date

2. Thai Male applications must have completed their statutory military service obligation or be exempt.

3. Applicant must hold a doctoral degree in Language and Intercultural Communication or other related fields.

4. Any nationality, however, applicant must have the ability to read, write and

Communicate in Thai and/ or English.

5. Applicant must have a good competence in English language skills, which can be declared through successful results in the following schemes

6. Applicant must have experience teaching or academic lectures or academic of Higher education.      

7. Applicant must have research experience.

Please note that the results declared must not be over 2 years from the application closure date. If proof of English language proficiency is not declared, the university will not consider the submitted application.

Remark : In the case of being a graduate of a program taught in English (International Program) in countries where English is the official language The aforementioned English test scores may not be attached.

Job Description

Applicant is expected to conduct their tasks in research, writing research proposals, teaching, giving consultation to students in Master of Arts in Language and Intercultural Communication Program, and other academic services for public, preservation of arts and culture, collaboration with other degree programs, centers and research units, and other tasks appointed by the employer institute.

Selection process

1. The committee considers applicants’ qualifications and selects qualified applicants to conduct  teaching demonstration, academic presentation and interview, in the processes given below.

2. Teaching demonstration

     1) Applicant presents a teaching plan (course syllabus) of 1 subject from the given list below. The teaching plan should include contents or topics of teaching for each lecture, reading lists for each lecture, evaluation of teaching and learning. One course consists of 15 lectures 3 hours totaling 45 hours.

                        LCIC 505  Intercultural Communication Theories                                            

                        LCIC 506  Language Analysis for Intercultural Communication                  

                        LCIC 507  Research Design and Practice                                                 

                        LCIC 531  Strategic Intercultural Communication                                   

                        LCIC 536  Semiology in Communication and Culture Analysis                              

                        LCIC 571  Intercultural Communication Management in Digital Era    

     2) The teaching exam lasts approximately 15-20 minutes by selecting the teaching topic as specified in the teaching plan (course syllabus) according to the subjects for which applicants can prepare the teaching plan above.

3. Academic presentation 

    Applicant makes a 15 - 20 minutes presentation based on their previous research, prospective research or dissertation. 

4. Interview

    Applicant is interviewed by the selection committee. The criteria for assessment includes academic qualifications, pedagogical skills, vision and personality suitable for the lecturer position.              

Note 1. The screening committee will evaluate applicants preliminarily based on the qualifications                       stated in the job application documents submitted through the e-Recruitment Online system,                  in order to be eligible for further selection examination.

        2. Applicants who complete out the application form online via e-Recruitment or email must verify               all of the attached documents (certified true copy) in PDF format and must be certified and                     correct. Applications lacking supporting documents will not be considered.

                    

Welfare bennefits

The rate for a doctoral degree holder is 41,000 baht. The successful candidate’s prior academic experience directly related to the position may qualify for a supplement to the base salary.
