  • Qualifications :
    1. Ph.D. with at least one degree in any of the following fields: languages and intercultural communication, communication arts, journalism, language and communication, communication management, communication psychology, corporate communication, or a related field.
    2. Male applicants must either have completed or be exempted from military service.
    3. No restrictions on the applicant’s nationality, but good reading, writing, and communication skills in Thai and/or English are required.
    4. Proficient in English with a minimum score for one of the following tests recognised by Mahidol University: 

              IELTS (Academic)                         a minimum overall score of             6

              TOEFL iBT                                   a minimum overall score of             79

              TOEFL ITP                                   a minimum overall score of             550

              TOEFL CBT                                  a minimum overall score of             213

              MU GRAD Test                              a minimum overall score of             80

              MU GRAD PLUS                            a minimum overall score of             90

              CU-TEP (Computer-based)             a minimum overall score of             75

              TU-GET (Computer-based)             a minimum overall score of             550

     

    • The test result must be less than two years old on the date the application is submitted (proof of English qualifications must be provided upon application).
    • The English proficiency requirement is waived for applicants who graduated from English-language programs (international programs) or applicants from countries with English as an official language.
  • Description :

    Teaching, supervising student theses/thematic papers, applying for research grants, producing academic output by, e.g., publishing research papers, academic articles, books, etc., providing academic services and participating in cultural and artistic activities, and working with other programs and/or research clusters as assigned.

  • Select process :
    1. Applicants must possess the required qualifications before screening and interview
    2. Qualified applicants will undergo an applicant screening process as follows:

              1) Teaching demonstration

                   1.1 Qualified applicants must prepare a course syllabus consisting of course description, lesson topics, reading list, and student assessment and evaluation (a course syllabus covers 15 class sessions lasting three hours each and 45 hours in total) for one of the following courses:

    1. LCIC 505        Intercultural Communication Theories
    2. LCIC 506        Language Analysis for Intercultural Communication
    3. LCIC 531        Strategic Intercultural Communication
    4. LCIC 536        Semiology in Communication and Culture Analysis
    5. LCIC 575        Participatory Communication for Social Change

                   1.2 Qualified applicants choose one lesson topic from the course syllabus and give a 15-to-20-minute teaching demonstration.

              2) Presentation on academic output

    Qualified applicants give a 15-to-20-minute presentation on their academic output such as a research project or thesis.

              3)Interview

    Qualified applicants will be interviewed and evaluated on the basis of academic qualifications, instructional skills, attitudes, and personality.

    Note:

  • Salary :

    Salary rate

            The base salary for a doctoral degree holder is 41,000 baht. (The successful candidate’s relevant prior academic experience may qualify them for an additional supplement to the base salary.)
