General Qualifications:
1. No gender restriction; male applicants must have completed military service or be legally exempted
2. Must not have been sentenced to imprisonment by a final court judgment, except for offenses committed through negligence or minor offenses
3. Must not have any serious contagious diseases or health conditions that would prevent the performance of duties
4. No nationality restriction; applicants must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Required Qualifications:
1. Hold a doctoral degree in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Political Science, Cultural Studies, Education, Regional Studies, Development Studies, or other related fields deemed appropriate by the selection committee
2. Demonstrate good English proficiency with one of the following test scores (valid within two years from the application date):
- IELTS (Academic): overall score ≥ 6.0
- TOEFL iBT: overall score ≥ 79
- TOEFL ITP: overall score ≥ 550
- MU GRAD Test: overall score ≥ 80
- MU GRAD PLUS: overall score ≥ 90
- CU-TEP (Internet-Based): overall score ≥ 75
- TU-GET (Paper-Based): overall score ≥ 550
- TU-GET (Computer-Based): overall score ≥ 80
Applicants without valid test scores will not be considered.
Applicants who hold a doctoral degree or higher and obtained qualifying English test scores prior to enrollment may submit those scores instead. Graduates from international programs conducted in English in countries where English is an official language are exempt from submitting English test scores.
3. Demonstrated research expertise in areas such as cultural dynamics and diversity, ethnic identity and relations, civil society movements, sustainable development, cultural citizenship, cultural rights, postcolonialism, multilingual and multicultural policies, globalization, transnationalism, migration, and diaspora, particularly in relation to ASEAN, India, and China
4. Published research in international indexed databases or book chapters published by reputable international publishers
5. Teaching experience and/or experience in academic lectures, international conference presentations, and/or academic collaboration with international networks
6. Must not be under any scholarship repayment obligation
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Research experience in Social Sciences or Humanities related to East Asian Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, or Gender Studies
2. Established international academic collaboration networks
3. Experience in multilingual and multicultural research in Asia or ASEAN, using comparative or transnational approaches
4. Experience in mixed methods research or innovative research methodologies
5. Ability to use modern research technologies, computer programs, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance research and teaching in accordance with university regulations
