The School Data Officer plays a critical role in supporting academic operations through data management, testing coordination, and IT support for teachers. This is a non-teaching position focused on ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and usability of school data for instructional and accreditation purposes.
Key Responsibilities
1. MAPS Testing Coordination
- Organize and oversee the administration of MAPS (Measures of Academic Progress) testing across relevant grade levels.
- Ensure timely setup, troubleshooting, and reporting of MAPS results.
- Liaise with teachers and administrators to interpret and utilize MAPS data effectively.
2. IT Support for Teachers
- Provide basic IT support to teaching staff, especially in relation to data tools and platforms. This includes troubleshooting day-to-day issues for recording attendance and grades.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English to assist teachers with technical issues.
- Collaborate with the school's IT service department when advanced support is needed.
3. Data Collection for WASC Accreditation
- Collect and organize data required for WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation processes.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness in alignment with accreditation standards.
- Work with school leadership to prepare documentation and reports.
- Conduct periodic school-wide surveys to collect data from students, parents and teachers.
4. Periodic Data Reporting
- Generate and distribute regular data reports to HoDs to support instructional planning and departmental reviews.
- Customize reports based on departmental needs and feedback.
- Present findings to teaching staff periodically, allowing them to make informed, data-driven decisions.
5. PowerSchool Data Analysis
- Extract and compile data from PowerSchool for reporting and analysis.
- Note: This role does not include PowerSchool administration or configuration responsibilities.
6. Professional Development (PD) Training
- Design and deliver PD sessions for teachers focused on classroom-level data collection and analysis.
- Train students, parents, teachers and support staff on the use of PowerSchool.
- Train teachers in the use of Destiny (library software), Atlas (curriculum management system) and any future systems.
- Empower teachers to use data tools effectively to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
